In addition to creating work from my own vision, I often enjoy collaborating with clients to bring their vision to life. It's fun to photograph textures and arrange them
in such a way that it evokes the spirit of place, helping the client remember a favorite building, town, park, trail etc. Commissions are always a new journey into creativity.
If you have a project in mind, a visual quilt you'd like to commission for yourself or as a gift, please connect with me via my contact page. I usually schedule commissions at least a month in advance. What I charge depends on the scope of the project.
"Mill in Bethel"
This piece is a commissioned Visual Quilt of a old grist mill in Bethel Vermont. There was a run down barn, the old mill, rusted metal, moss covered rock walls, and of course the water. My client wanted to focus on the water as the theme for her Visual Quilt. It was early Ocotober and the leaves were almost at their peak, providing a colorful backdrop to the dam.
Commissioned Visual Quilt of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Haverhill is an old mill town, so the client wanted to fous on the gritty industrial textures, patterns and colors of the downtown area. She later ordered a large metal print of her custom Visual Quilt.
Textures and patterns of two barns at a private home in Bethel, VT
My client, who already owned a piece of mine, commissioned me to create a work for his fiancee. Since she adores horses the theme for her Visual Quilt was kinda obvious. To show the beautiful variety in coat colors, patterns and textures, I used photos from horses I have known, and also traveled to various VT barns including Firefly Farm in Roxbury and One Mitten Farm in Shelburne. Info about the individual horses in this Visual Quilt can be found here.
